Luella Carr 
July 6, 1915 - June 7, 2005 

Together Again Services for Luella Carr will be held on Saturday, June 11, at 
9:00 a.m., in Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd. Chaplain Gary Bashor 
will officiate. Luella was born and raised in Newport, KY to James and Clara 
Hayes, who preceded her in death. She met and married her husband Henry Carr. 
After they married they moved to Bakersfield with her parents in 1937. 
Together they traveled the world and enjoyed taking long walks with their 
dogs. They were married for 61 years until his death in 1998. Luella loved to 
play golf and enjoyed painting. Luella leaves behind her beloved daughter, 
Donna McMurtrey and son-in-law, Jon. She cherished her five grandchildren, 
Michael McMurtrey and wife, Michelle of Folsom, CA, Debra Kennedy and husband, 
Clint, Cindy Kinney and husband, Ed, Jim McMurtrey and wife, Anna, all of 
Bakersfield, John McMurtrey and wife, Susie of Raleigh, NC. Luella was blessed 
with 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter. Luella went 
home to the Lord and to join her first and only love Henry. She will be 
greatly missed by family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff 
at Rosewood Health Center, especially Aida, for her loving care. And to her 
roommate, Ruth Lowery, thank you for watching over her. Also Hoffman Hospice 
for their special care in her last days. Pallbearers will be Michael 
McMurtrey, Jim McMurtrey, John McMurtrey, Ed Kinney, Clint Kennedy and Willie 
Shoffner. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Shoffner and Brandon Robertson. 
Visitation will be Friday, June 10, from 9:00 a.m. 9:00 p.m.
