He lived in Bakersfield for most of his life where he helped raise his three children. Duane was a hard-working man who always provided for his family and never missed a day of work. Duane is survived by his mother, Esther Herdt; his son, Ryan Herdt and wife, Marie; his daughter, Kristi Barron and husband, Marcus; and his youngest daughter, Alise Herdt. Duane also had two beautiful granddaughters, Hannah Marie and Sophia Rose Barron, who lovingly referred to him as Papa D. Duane is also survived by his two sisters, Javene Kidwell and Charlotte Penry and husband, Mark; and his brother, Rick Herdt and wife, Charlene. Duane also had numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be dearly missed by all. Duane, along with many family members and friends, shared the hope that is promised in the Bible, that all who have fallen asleep in death will be resurrected to live forever in a beautiful garden-like paradise here on the Earth. Psalm 37:29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it. Revelation 21:4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Grossman Burn Center for the care and concern they bestowed upon Duane.
