Elaine Muriel Ferguson

Sept. 11, 1935 – Aug. 28, 2005

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Wood Family Funeral 
Service Chapel for Elaine Muriel Ferguson, 69, who passed away in Bakersfield 
on Aug. 28.

Elaine was born to Ervin and Emma Hesli on Sept. 11, 1935, in Anoka, Minn. She 
had two brothers, Floyd and Keith, and one sister, Geraldine, who all still 
live in Minnesota. 

Elaine completed the 10th grade and shortly thereafter eloped with Virgil 
Ferguson. They were married in Mesa, Iowa on Feb. 7, 1953 and blessed with 52 
years together.

In 1955, they moved to the Canoga Park area. They remained there for almost 30 
years. 

Elaine was a wonderful mother to her nieces, nephews and three foster 
children. She and Virgil adopted two children, Wayne, who lives in Reno, and 
Ranee, who lives in Chatsworth with her only grandchild, Shannon Nicole. 

Because of her love for children, Elaine babysat for many years and influenced 
many young lives. When Virgil retired, they moved to the peace and quiet of 
the Tehachapi mountain area, where she was able to enjoy her remaining years.

Deacon Richard Lambert officiated at the funeral service. Interment followed 
at the Tehachapi Public Cemetery, Eastside.

Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
