Graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 28, at 9:30 a.m., at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield, California. Reverend Milt Cole will officiate. She is preceded in death by her mother, Elsa (Dhall) Hinman and father, Jay A. Hinman. Charlotte is remembered as a proper lady kind, caring and sociable with beautiful eyes, a gorgeous smile and radiant skin. Taking pride in her appearance, she took great care of her skin, enjoyed having her hair done and kept fit with her love for swimming. She had a soft spot for animals, cherishing her pet poodles and caring for stray cats. She also loved to paint, filling many canvases with landscapes, flowers and birds. You might have mistaken her for a movie star in her 1953 yellow Cadillac Eldorado convertible. A longtime childcare provider for Tom and Dolores McNeil, their daughter Kathleen recalls: Elegant and refined is my first impression of Charlotte. Even as a child, I could sense this about her. But, she was also great fun. Each summer, along with my brother Charles, we rarely missed a day swimming at the Bakersfield College pool. Creative, she would sketch cartoon characters, and make paper dolls for me. I fondly remember her taking me to school in her big yellow Cadillac with a box full of kittens for show and tell. She loved the beach and joined us on vacation in Santa Barbara. Patient to a fault, I cannot recall one instance when she raised her voice or her hand to us, though I confess we deserved it on one than more occasion. Charlotte was very dear to our family and holds a very special place in our hearts. She will be deeply missed. Special acknowledgement and thanks to Gloria Santiago, her caretaker of 11 years and Glorias daughter, Monica Bovavilla. No visitation is scheduled.
