Friedly Services: Fri., Mar. 25, 12 p.m. Edna M. Friedly was born on June 21, 1913, in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of Edward and Maude Hodge. She passed away at the home of her daughter in Tulsa, OK, on March 17, 2005, at the age of 91, after an illness of a few months. She and her husband, Charles Friedly who died in 1995, were longtime residents of Bakersfield. Her sister, Lois Harbin of Bakersfield, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Friedly is survived by her brother, William G. Hodge of Galveston, TX. She is also survived by her loving family of four children and their spouses: William (Katherine) Hanvey of Los Altos, CA; Betty (Grant) Sample of Tulsa, OK; Robert (Nancy) Hanvey of Fresno, CA and Donald (Blanca) Hanvey of Los Angeles, CA. Also surviving her are 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Her family was the center of her life, and she was the catalyst for family communication and gatherings. Every one of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came from coast to coast to Lake Tahoe to pay tribute to her on the occasion of her 90th birthday in 2003. Almost to the end, her mind was sharp and her memory better than that of her children. She could also beat any of them in dominoes. She will be truly missed by all of her family & friends. Mrs. Friedly was for many years an active member of the Oildale Church of Christ, where a memorial service will be conducted on Friday, March 25, at 12:00 noon. Lunch will be served by the church for all friends and family following the service. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Bakersfield.
