Irene E. Stockton 
January 6, 1926 - June 5, 2005 

Visitation was held at Doughty-Calhoun-OMeara (1100 Truxtun Ave.), from 12-8 
p.m., on Friday, June 10. Services will be held at Doughty-Calhoun-OMeara 
today, June 11, at 9:00 a.m. Graveside services following at Engle-Stockton 
Cemetery. Irene was born on January 6, 1926, to Ernest H. and Mary I. Hofman, 
who farmed in Shafter, CA. She enjoyed gardening and the farm-fresh produce 
all through her life. Irene was employed by Kern County for 22 years, working 
at the Health Department and Auditor-Controllers Office. One of her most 
memorable experiences was traveling in Europe with her daughter, Nancy, and 
visiting her fathers birthplace in Belgium. Irene is preceded in death by her 
husband, Ward M. Stockton, who passed in 1971. She is survived by her 
brothers, Ernest Hofman and Harry Hofman; by her children, Laura Stockton, Kay 
and Mark Burkett, Nancy and Donald Thompson and David Stockton and by her 
lifelong friends, Eleanor and Vera. She was a very devoted mother, friend and 
animal lover. Her family would like to give special thanks to the staff and 
her friends at Parkview Julian. In lieu of flowers, please donate memorial 
gifts to your favorite charity.
