Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Howard Huckaby was born November 6, 1922 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Samuel and Minnie Huckaby; and he went home to be with the Lord on March 15, 2005 in Bakersfield. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marlin Huckaby; 3 brothers and 4 sisters; and he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth K. Huckaby; son, James Huckaby; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Virginia Huckaby and Jerry and Tammy Huckaby; daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and John Pierce; daughter, Carolyn Huckaby; 17 grandchildren; 7 great- grandchildren and one on-the-way; brothers, Lon Huckaby and Ronald and Norma Huckaby; sisters, Cleo and Chester Lightle and Dola Martin and numerous nieces and nephews. Howard came to Bakersfield in 1941 and met the love of his life, Elizabeth Cornelius and they married in 1942. Howard was a partner of Huckaby Brothers Trucking for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting with his dogs for bear, mountain lions and anything in season. He also enjoyed baseball games but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends at The Scotsmens Café. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
