Viewing will be from 5-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Friday morning, July 8, at 9:30 a.m. Jong Hwang went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 2, 2005. She was born in Seoul, Korea on August 12, 1948 and settled down in Bakersfield in 1983. Jong is survived by her husband, Dr. Yong Hwang; son, Thaddeus Hwang; and daughter, Judy Hwang. She was a compassionate, dedicated, and loving wife and mother. She was loved by many and leaves behind a lifetime of fond memories. Jong volunteered for the community performing various volunteer activities for the San Joaquin hospital as well as for her church. She was very active in the church and generously donated her finances towards missionary work. Jong was a very strong woman who had a will to live. After discovering her diagnosis with cancer back in December of 2001, she still did not go down without a fight. She went through 3 painful and grueling surgeries until she passed away last weekend. She will be remembered by many who loved her and cherished her. Wed like to give a special thanks to her doctors, Dr. Alan Cartmell, Dr. Owen Kim, Dr. Demeester, and most of all, her husband, Dr. Yong Hwang, who endured through so much taking care of her as a loving husband and care giver as well as her medical doctor. He never left her side and fought this battle with her every step of the way. We love you dad and will never forget what youve done for mom. Mom loves you and is looking down from heaven watching over you. We love you mom and will miss you very much. It is so painful to go through each day without you here with us. We will never forget you and we know that you are here with us is spirit. We all love you very much.
