Born January 1st, 1923 daughter of Orvel and Leila Johnson, Marguerite was well known in Bakersfield for her lifetime career teaching English at Bakersfield High School and College. She grew up in Washington DC, where she graduated from High School at the young age of 15. She then moved to Oakland, California, graduating from UC Berkeley with a Master's degree at 19. She subsequently moved with her mother to Bakersfield, where she began her teaching career and spent the rest of her life. Marguerite was a member of the Congregational Church. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Preceded in death by her parents and, most recently her beloved cat, Jennie, Marguerite leaves many cousins and friends who will miss her wit and wisdom, her compassion and loyalty and her beautiful smile.
