Annis Services: Sun., Sept. 18, 1:00 p.m. Vivian Annis, 96, of Bakersfield, formerly of Osgood, Indiana, died on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at her home. She was born January 23, 1909, in Denbigh, North Dakota, the daughter of Ora and Stella Justice, both deceased. She married Carl Annis of Osgood, Indiana on February 24, 1928. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, in 1990; and her first son, Jim, in 1996. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Ora, Irene and Anita; and three brothers: Edgar, Howard and Bob. She is survived by one brother, Carl and one half brother, Eddie Adkins. She is also survived by two daughters: Mary Hargitt (Jim) of Noblesville, IN and Lou Monreal (David) of Lake Forest, CA; two sons, Bill of Rescue, CA and John (Donna) of Raleigh, NC; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Vivian spent the first seven years of her life in North Dakota where her father was engaged in real estate, farming and the operation of a wheat thrashing business. Her family moved to Milan, Indiana after her father had his lungs frostbitten during a cold North Dakota winter. Vivian graduated from Milan High School in 1928, and then moved to Osgood to be with her husband. In 1951 she left Osgood to be with her husband, Carl, full-time on the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey. They traveled around the country with his work until Carl retired in 1971, at which time they settled in Bakersfield.
