Womack. Hand in hand, with flowers and butterflies abounding, Jim guided Dawn to their Heavenly home. There they now reside, together, forever. G. Dawn Womack was born in Santa Monica, California on January 19, 1922, to Glen and Ethel Jones. As a child in Santa Monica, California, Mrs. Womack was a member of the famous Meglan Kitties dance team (Shirley Temple was also one). She grew up in the Los Angeles area and later moved to the Bay area during WWII. Dawn met, and was courted by James D. Womack in Alameda, California where Jim was stationed. She cleverly proposed to Jim by asking him what last name she should use on the Christmas cards she was having printed. They were married on November 25, 1942, just before Jim began his service overseas in the Navy. When her husband returned from the service they moved to Bakersfield where Mr. Womack began working with Dawns father to form the partnership of Jones-Womack Construction. Dawn and Jim celebrated 60 years of marriage together. Dawn Womack was a devoted mother. She was a Cub Scout Den mother for all three of her sons and encouraged them in many creative endeavors also. Dawn had her sons enter flower shows with roses from her garden and doll shows too, something they may not admit to if you asked them about this, even though, her dressed fleas she had since she was a child, always won first place for the smallest doll! She was active at all the schools her sons attended and never missed any of their track meets, football games, or other activities. Mrs. Womack was a PTA President for Munsey School, Curran Junior High, and West High School where she played an integral part in planning its opening in 1965. G. Dawn Womack loved her home and her children. She took the family on vacation-even when her husbands business demands did not let him take time off. Dawn was passionate about many things: beautiful flowers, butterflies, all the hues of turquoise and purple, sparkly blouses and purses, and pretty jewelry. She will be remembered as a real lady. A lady who always sent the perfect thank you note, one who paid special attention to detail with packaging gifts, sending Christmas cards and cards of sympathy. Dawn took great joy in buying little gifts for her grandchildren and daughters-in-law. Mrs. Womack loved her cats and dog. They were recipients of great food, beds, toys and loyal care. After a busy time rearing her children she enjoyed being at home. Mrs. Womack is preceded in death by her husband, James Donald Womack. She is survived by her three sons and their families, Keith Womack and wife, Bobbi Jean; Scott Womack and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Mason, Wesley, Grant and wife, Lizzie; and Craig Womack and wife, Helen; grandchildren, John and Alexandra. We would like to express a special thank you to Dawns wonderful caregivers, Maria, Lance, Deborah, Phyllis and Nurse Kathleen. A Chapel Celebration of Life will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary, at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2005.
