Sydney Maughan Kent Owen

Sydney Maughan Kent Owen, 62, lost her ferocious fight with Uterine Cancer 
November 28, 2005, in Lake Isabella. Sydney was born Nov. 14, 1943, in Salt 
Lake City, to Barbara Salisbury Maughan and Howard Roy Kent. Sydney valued 
education and will be remembered for being a "mother" to many throughout her 
nearly 25-year teaching career. She had a genuine love for people and was 
unafraid of social differences. She enjoyed scrapbooking, traveling, shopping, 
dancing, crafting and watching sporting events. Her greatest joys in life 
evolved around spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is 
survived by her mother, Barbara Kent; brothers, Howard, Maughan and Tawn Kent; 
children, Natalie Ward and David Owen and four grandchildren. She is preceded 
in death by her father, Howard Roy Kent and sister, Barbara Jean Callahan. A 
celebration of Sydney's life will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at The Church of 
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kern Valley Chapel in Mt. Mesa.
