Anna was born February 5, 1916 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Joseph and Amy Long and she passed away January 26, 2006 in Bakersfield, California. Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Russell M. Kessler; brothers, Harold, Robert and Earl Long; sister, Jane Dray. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Eileen Kessler; son and daughter-in- law, James and Dona Kessler; grandchildren, Darrin Kessler, Erica Kessler, Nathan Kessler, Suzette Benally (Attlee) and Phillip Kessler (Adrianna); nine great- grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Richard Frundle as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Anna's move to California came when her husband, Russell, took a job in Los Angeles at a factory essential to the War effort. Prior to moving to Bakersfield in 1964, they lived in Monterey Park, CA and Blooming Prairie, MN. Ann (as she was known to most) worked 18 years in Foundations for Brocks Department Store, but most of her life was spent as a homemaker. She loved to cook and in her family's eyes was the "best baker" west of Iowa. Among those she loved were long time friends from Brocks, her Bunco group and most of all, her family. Even though she did not have a lot, her home was open to those in need and the little she had was shared with all. She will always be loved and deeply missed.
