Joyce was born in Chicago, Ill., on Sept. 1, 1932, to Lou and Helen Kobrin. Her mother, a professional singer, encouraged Joyce in music but her heart was not in it. Instead, Joyce married and had children, expressing her creative side by doing crafts with them while they were growing up. At the age of 48, Joyce fell off her youngest son’s skateboard, which proved to be an event that would change her life forever. During her recovery and rehabilitation, Joyce dropped in to view a one-man art show. Right then and there she knew what she wanted to do. She immediately began lessons and took many other art workshops with well-known artists. At the end of her first year of study, she entered her first juried art show, winning first and second prize. It was onward and upward from there. Her art is enjoyed by many and has been widely exhibited. In 1994, Joyce moved to beautiful Bear Valley Spring where she opened an art studio and school in her home. Joyce was affiliated with many clubs, including the San Fernando Valley Art Club, Antelope Valley Art Club, Tehachapi Fine Arts Association, Bear Valley Springs Cultural Arts Association and the Woman in the Arts, Washington, D.C. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Joyce is survived by her husband of more than 37 years, Tracy Hunter of Bear Valley Springs; sons, Michael Lankin and wife Karen of Minnesota; and David Lankin and wife Traci of Bear Valley Springs; daughter, Andrea Annexstein and fiance Brad of Tehachapi; step-daughter, Lanette Hunter-Reginelli and husband Earl of Denver, Colo.; step-son, John Hunter and wife Kathie of Gold Bar, Wash.; grandchildren, Brandon, Danielle, Travis, Nicole, Samantha, Zachary, Jacklyn, Scott, Hailey, Jami, Therone and Alexandra; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Jesse, Boehn and Giovanni; sisters, Pamela Brown and Allissa Mabrie; and brothers, Ronald Kobrin and Jerome Snyder.
