She died on September 5, 2005 at the age of 90. Adeline married Henry Karber on June 21, 1936. In 1975 Adeline retired after 32 years as a draftsman for the Kern County Assessors Office. Following her retirement, she and Henry enjoyed traveling in the United States and Europe. They also enjoyed many bus trips with Joe and Marie Myers who were the hosts for the Gadabouts. She was an accomplished china painter and was known for her beautiful rose-decorated plates. She and Henry celebrated their sixty-third wedding anniversary in 1999. Adeline was a member of the Bakersfield Mennonite Brethren Church (now Heritage Bible Church) since she was a young girl. She loved to sing in the church choir and together with Henry they were Sunday School superintendents for many years. She was a charter member of Laurelglen Bible Church where she was active in the Prime Timers and contact person for the prayer chain. She loved interacting with all her friends at church, especially Louise Keim who was her close friend. Adeline became a Christian at a young age and showed her love for the Lord all through her life. She loved her family and was always telling her friends about their activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Karber; granddaughter, Nicole Karber; and sister, Mildred Bese. She is survived by her son, Lance Karber and daughter-in-law Linda Karber of Bakersfield; and granddaughter, Lisa Karber of Venice, CA. Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Friday, September 9, 2005 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Graveside service will be at Hillcrest on Saturday, September 10, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Roger Poppen of Laurelglen Bible Church will officiate.
