Memorial services will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 
Panama Ln., Thursday, March 31, at 10:00 a.m. for Amelia C. Kates, 76, who 
passed away March 26, 2005 in Bakersfield. 

Amelia was born April 8, 1928 in Yuma, Arizona and resided in Kern County for 
66 years. She was a homemaker for 50 years.

Amelia is survived by her husband, Julio M. Kates; daughters and son-in-law, 
Jess and Christina Rodriguez and Yolanda C. Ramirez; sons and daughter-in-law, 
Julio C. Kates, Albert C. Kates and Sonia, Hilario and Sandra Olvera; 
grandchildren, Joey Cortez, Maria Lomeli, Eric Soto, Stephanie Soto, Ashley 
Kates, Jesus C. Rodriguez, Albert T. Kates, Armando Kates, and Quentin E. 
Kates; brothers, Victor Chavez and Johnny Chavez; sisters, Mary Lou Dela 
Cerda, Isabel Gonzalez, and Vera Amaya; 16 great-grandchildren. Amelia was 
preceded in death by her daughter Concepcion Cortez. Amelia was a member of 
the Guadalupe Catholic Church. 

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday 3:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
