She was born February 2, 1927, in Oakdale, Nebraska. Shortly thereafter she moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas where she attended grade school and high school. After WWII, she married her husband, Leslie Jean Knackstedt. They were married for 59 years. They moved to Bakersfield in 1954 and remained there for 30 years until their retirement to Rogers in 1986. Gayle worked at Montgomery Wards for 20 years, but her prime responsibility was to her husband and two children. Gayle was a member of First Christian Church, until moving to Rogers, where she transferred her membership to the First Christian Church there. She also was a member of Eastern Stars and recently received her 50- year membership pin. Gayle was an extremely kind and loving woman. She loved to cook. Her family will always remember her wonderful homemade pies and dinner rolls. Gayle is survived by her husband, Leslie of Rogers, Arkansas; her son, Gary and his wife, Christine of Stockton, CA; and her daughter, Karen Davis and her husband, Larry of Bakersfield, CA. She also is survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church in Rogers, Arkansas, on August 29, 2005.
