Ruby Gerry Long 
Services: Thurs., Dec. 29, 2:00 p.m. 

Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on 
Thursday, December 29, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., for longtime Taft resident, Ruby 
Gerry Long, 83. Mrs. Long was born in Delray on April 8, 1922 and passed away 
in Bakersfield on December 24, 2005. In 1928 she moved with her family from 
Delray to Belridge. After graduating from Taft College with an Associates 
Degree she moved to Los Angeles to work in the Defense Plant. In 1948 she 
moved back to Taft to spend the rest of her life. Mrs. Long worked for True 
Value until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene 
Walsh in 1954; her husband, Harold Long in 1999; and by her brother, Virgil 
Colston. Mrs. Long is survived by her children and their spouses, Donna and 
Allan Hale of Taft and Jim and Linda Walsh of Taft; her grandchildren, Lori 
Miller and her husband, David of Bakersfield, Mandi Evans and her husband, 
Jerry of Taft, Denise Adkins and her husband, Robin of Taft, Jimmy Walsh of 
Bakersfield and Rob Hale and his wife, Amie of Bakersfield; her great-
grandchildren, Megan and Robby Miller, Matthew, Perri and Presley Evans, Tyler 
and Kyle Adkins, and Robert and Elizabeth Hale; her brother and his wife, Bob 
and JoAnn Colston of Taft; her sister-in-law, Eleanor Colston of Taft; and by 
her numerous nieces. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so on 
Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 
1:00 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
