Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away October 20, 2005 while surrounded by her family. Talmadge is survived by her husband of 60 years, William; daughters, Cassie, Terry, Janet and Vicki; sister, Mildred Ottman; brothers-in-law, Fred and Ford Luttrell; sister-in-law, Jo Ramsey; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; niece, Mary Whitson and nephew, Vernon Kyle as well as many other family members and friends. Talmadge was born in Annapolis, Missouri and moved to Bakersfield in 1946. She loved the frequent trips to both Morro Bay and the cabin in Sugarloaf, but especially loved eating fish and chips at the coast. Her fondness for sweets was expressed by her advice to "Always save room for dessert". A devoted wife and mother, Talmadge taught her family the value of hard work, patience, honesty and compassion. In keeping with those values, she also raised her daughters to be loyal Democrats (much to the dismay of their Republican father). Talmadges sense of humor was another trademark characteristic that others appreciated. She was a dedicated kindergarten teacher for 37 years and retired in 1986 after 30 years in the Fairfax School District. Talmadge Luttrell was a woman of character and strength who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
