Bob was born to Vera and Elmer Lynn on August 11, 1928 in Escondido, California. The family followed oilfield work and moved to Long Beach, where Bob was avid about sports. He especially liked basketball and golf. Bob grew up caddying at Lakewood Country Club and he was able to carry the bag for Olin Dutra, after Olin was U.S. Open Champion. The family moved to Bakersfield and Bob attended KCUHS (BHS). Shortly after High School Bob was drafted and sent to the Korean Conflict where he was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army. He was in command of a field artillery unit while in Korea. The Air Medal for Valor was given to Bob for flying an unarmed observation plane over enemy territory while receiving small arms fire. When Bob returned from Korea he started in the insurance business with AAA. He later went on his own, with no customers and $100.00 to his name, Bob started The Lynn Company. Fifty years later, The Lynn Company has grown to one of the largest employee benefits agencies in the Central Valley. In his spare time, Bob was the Exalted Ruler of the local Elks Lodge in 1975-1976. He was also especially proud of being Master of Ceremonies at the St. Patricks Day party held by the Sullivans at the Woolgrowers for the last 30 years. Bob dearly loved his many fishing trips to Canada with Gary Guinn, Joe Ledbetter and the gang. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Lynn. He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Melanie Lynn; their two children, David and Connor and his son, Kenneth Lynn M.D. of Laguna Beach. The family would like to especially thank Bobs dear friend and companion, Alice Ansolabehere and her daughters, Elaine and Renee for their compassion and patience. A special thank you to Raquel Peloyo for her kindness and help with Bob over the last year. Words cannot express the appreciation for all the time and effort spent by Bob's friend and mine, Brian Dunlap who knows the true meaning of friendship. Thank you to everyone who participated in making the King's last days comfortable. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bob to the Bakersfield College Athletic Foundation, 1801 Panorama Drive Bakersfield, CA 93305.
