June was born on June 6, 1921, in Bakersfield, CA as an only child to William and Emma Lachenmaier. She attended high school in Shafter, as well as college in Santa Barbara. June loved adventure and at age 16 she explored various countries throughout Europe with a bicycle tour group. She was also an avid golfer and had fond memories and friendships acquired from the sport. June married Phillip Jeffries in 1944 and they started their life together in Bakersfield. The following year they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where Phillip served as a U.S. Navy Flight Instructor. After his tour of duty they moved to Shafter where they started their farming business. June played a significant role in her late father William Lachenmaiers horse farm and later assumed operation of June Jeffries Horse Farm at the family ranch. June loved life and was always ready for laughter, fun and a party. We shall miss her kind and gentle spirit. June was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. June is lovingly survived by her son, Ryan Jeffries and wife, Bunny of Bakersfield; three grandsons, Jason Jeffries of Bakersfield, Christopher Jeffries and wife, Jitka of Laguna Beach, and Bryan Jeffries of Bakersfield; sister-in-law, Charmion Bettencourt of Bakersfield; nephew, Phillip Bettencourt of Newport Beach; niece, Cynthia Icardo and husband, Gary of Bakersfield. Honoring June will be the following Pallbearers: Jason Jeffries, Christopher Jeffries, Bryan Jeffries, Bill Cowan, David Cartnal and Phillip Bettencourt. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice or World Wings, International, Ovarian Cancer Research, 1224 Key West, Corona Del Mar, CA 92625. Our family would like to give a warm thanks to the loving and caring staff of Glenwood Gardens Magnolia Court, and a Special Thanks to Kathy Daniels for all her love and compassion.
