She was born to Dwight T. and Elma Aslin Launius on August 31, 1921, in Bloomfield, MO. Louise was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Russell, Kent and Doyle Launius. She is survived by her husband, V.A. (Dutch) Halstead; her brother, Doy Launius; sister, Lillian Skelton-Hohstadt, Lois Vaughn and Ruth Ann Fritsen; children, Ray Ruebel and wife, Sharon of Camarillo, CA., Brenda Thomas-Kulp and husband, Richard of Bakersfield, CA., and Tom Ruebel and wife, Donna of Bakersfield, CA., stepchildren, Barbara (deceased) Larry, Mike, Billie, Johnnie, Cindy and David, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. Louise loved and cared for each and every one. Louise married Elmer Ruebel in 1945 and moved from Bloomfield to Hidden Valley, CA where they raised their 3 children. They divorced in 1967 and she moved to Bakersfield in 1966 and married Dutch Halstead in 1967. Louise worked for Judds Dress Shop downtown until she retired. She loved being with her family (especially the little ones) and friends and traveling. She was (as her nephew Ron said) A very bright star. She now shines brightly in Heaven. Everyone that knew her was truly blessed by her kindness and great sense of humor. She will be truly missed by all.
