Lynn 1930 - 2005 A celebration of Bobs life will be held on Tuesday, July 19th, at 10:00 a.m., at River Lakes Community Church, 4301 Calloway Drive. Bobs dear friend, Milt Cole, will lead the service. A life time resident of Bakersfield, Bob began his business career in 1949 at Bakersfields original Chevrolet dealership, Motor Center. After graduating from Cal in 1951, opportunity knocked and in 1954 Bob joined Gene Winer in what became a thirty-one year professional relationship and a lifelong friendship at Gene Winer Cadillac. Bob started as the Parts Manager and became a partner with Gene in 1964. Under Bobs management, the business was recognized by Time Magazine with their Quality Dealership Award and by General Motors as a Master Dealer. Bob was a president of the Kern County New Car Dealers Association and in 1979, president of the Southern California Motor Car Dealers Association. In 1974, he was the president of the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce. He was also active on many community boards and in many community organizations. Bobs word was his bond. He was respected for his integrity. Because his father was the tennis coach at KCUHS, Bob grew up on the court. His family were among the original members of the Racquet Club. He invented the Bob Lynn Special in the coffee shop at the club. Always interested in promoting the game, he served on the Racquet Clubs Tennis Development Corporation until his death. Bob was also a longtime member of Stockdale Country Club and spent many hours there playing and supervising bridge and gin rummy games. Bob was so proud of his family and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn. Bobs dedicated brother, Richard, is in his 34th year in the car business, currently working at Motor City Auto Center. Bobs three granddaughters, McKenzie, Reagan and Reidlee loved him dearly and will always remember their Papa. Their parents, Becky and Bryan are joined by Bob and Carolyns daughter, Tracy Steele and her husband, Dean from Carnation, Washington in grieving his death. Bob was also very close to his brother-in- law and sister-in-law, Gene and Virginia Sultze and his sister-in-law, Barbara Nunes. The family would like to thank the dedicated and compassionate staff at Memorial Hospital for their attentive care to Bob. We are also very grateful to Dr. Tommy Lee, Bobs cardiologist, his neighbor and his friend. The Lord is my strength and my shield: my heart trusted in Him and I am helped. Therefore, my heart greatly rejoiceth, and with song will I praise Him. Psalms 28:7. Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 7/16/2005.
