Throughout our lives, Mom has filled our hearts with joy. Always supportive she cheered us on at hundreds of GBA baseball games, traveled to watch every football game her sons played in and attended any childhood event important to us. We all share fond memories of boating trips to Buena Vista Lake and moms favorite family trip to the Colorado River. Moms talents seemed innumerable: she could paint beautifully, quilt, sew and make floral arrangements, which she did for weddings and other special occasions. One of her best talents was her amazing singing voice. Besides these wonderful gifts, she enjoyed many hobbies: Mom loved camping and the outdoors; in fact, she and close friends made annual river rafting trips. She bowled for many years and she made sure her daughter and granddaughters learned to love shopping as much as she did. Mom loved to buy gifts for others just to see them smile and she was a gracious hostess who opened her home and heart to everyone. We will all miss her cooking, especially her wonderful sugar cookies and delicious potato salad. Mom was so proud of her sons and their wives and her daughter and her husband; she would often say, How can a person have four children, and all of them turn out to be the best at everything they do? Not only was she a good mother and grandmother, she was a loyal daughter, sister and friend. She helped care for her father and sister even when she herself was suffering from a serious illness. Above all, our mother was a courageous woman, very beautiful on the outside, but even more so on the inside. Her strong Christian faith saw her through lifes difficulties and gave her the strength to endure to the end and hold fast to her convictions. Mom is loved and admired more than words can say; she will be missed by all who knew her. A conscientious wife and mother should not be taken for granted, Give her the reward she has earned. Her works bring her praiseProverbs 31:31 Well done, good and faithful servant Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian from 11/29/2005 - 11/30/2005.
