Jan. 11, 2:30 p. m. Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., for Edward Malm. Chaplain Gary Bashor and Kern County Veterans will officiate. Ed passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2006. He was a member of the American Legion Post #26 and a veteran of World War II. He enlisted in the Marines, October 1942 and was in the battle of Tarawa and throughout the Pacific. He was wounded in the battle of Tinion and received the Purple Heart medal. He served with the Marines 2nd Division until his discharge in November 1946. He enjoyed boating, fishing and working in his garden with his little dog, Angel, always at his side. Ed was preceded in death by his oldest son, Edward Malm Jr., his sister Jackie Powning and brothers Elmer Malm and William Malm. He is survived by his two sons from his first marriage Allen Malm and wife Ruth and Danny Malm and wife Pam; several grandchildren; great grandchild; his wife of 16 years Phyllis Malm; step sons and daughters Connie Dixon and husband Thomas, Kim Blackford, Gary Blackford and wife Kathi, Tom Blackford and wife Janie, Glenn Blackford; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Our sincere thanks to the wonderful people of Hoffmann Hospice for their care. He will be missed by all of his friends and family.
