Dominguez Jan. 24, 1922 - Oct. 24, 2005 A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Friday October 28, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for Salome M. Dominguez. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary. Salome was born in Terlingua, Texas on January 24, 1922 to the late Maximo and Cruz Martinez. Salome passed away at her home Monday October 24, 2005 to be with the Lord she served for many years. She had lived in Bakersfield since 1961. She was preceded in death by son, Esequiel Jr. (Zeke); her parents; brothers, Celso, Eusbio, Juan; sisters, Barbara, Cruz, Paula, Mary and Frances. Salome was active in the Guadalupana Society, was President of Legion of Mary, Curia Society and was named Woman of the Year in 1991. She kept the church altar beautiful by washing and ironing the linens and assisted in decorating the Church for different occasions for many years. You would also see Salome at the yearly Jamaicas in her beautiful sunhat running the Mexican Loteria (bingo) or anywhere else she was needed. Salome and her husband said the daily Rosary in their home for many years. Salome never said no to her children or grandchildren in time of need if only a small thing such as sewing a dress, pants or driving them to where ever they needed to be. Salome was an lay person who dedicated her life to the support of her church and family. She is survived by her husband of 66 years Esequiel; her daughters, Emma Madrid and Dora Garcia-Dominguez; sons, Ernest and wife, Juanita, Joe and wife, Vicky Eusbio Dominguez; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Manuel Martinez and wife, Eva; sisters, Ann Dominguez, Meza AZ, Juana Gonzales San Antonio, Texas and Luz McGuire, Odessa, Texas. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Manuel Madrid, Rudy, Tim Christopher and Craig Dominguez and Dominic Garcia. We thank all of the hospice personnel especially J.R. who looked after our mother.
