Sept. 17, 11 a.m. Ruby was born on November 28, 1929, in Ashdown, Arkansas. She was the third of six children born to John Edward McFall and America Eugenia Bishop. Ruby Jean entered eternal life on September 9, 2005. Ruby and her family moved to Buttonwillow, CA, in 1945. She attended and graduated from Bakersfield High School. Ruby moved to Wasco, CA with her late husband, Otha Patten, in 1946 where they resided and raised their seven children until 1991. At this time due to her poor health, she decided to leave Wasco with the youngest of her seven children to live with her daughter Angie in Southern California. Ruby may have left Wasco, but Wasco never left her heart. She would speak quite often of her dear friends that she knew and left behind. Mom, you will be most remembered for your strength and courage that you always displayed when faced with an obstacle. Cancer was your obstacle, but you were tuff. We thank the Lord for blessing us with you as our mother/ grandmother. We have listened to all your wisdom over the years and plan on utilizing many of your unique phrases in our every day way of life. We are going to miss you dearly. Ruby is survived by her sisters, Maybell Morning, Winnie Holmes and brother, John McFall; her sons, Robert Watkins, Kevin and Kenny Patten; her daughters, Valerie Swayne, Angie Dioso, and Lori Thornton; grandsons, Jason Demery, Nicholas Demery, Vincent Thornton II, Robyn Watkins, Patrick Patten, Joshua and Seneca Patten; granddaughters, Kevicia Haley, Ashley Dioso, Peyton Thornton, Eva Patten, Dena Watkins and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services are being held on September 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., in Wasco, at True Light Baptist Church. Internment will be at Wasco Cemetery.
