After a life of helping others, she died in her sleep at her home on November 28, 2005. Sherri was born on November 18, 1966, at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. She remained in Bakersfield and graduated from South High School in 1984 with Honors, where she participated in the FFA and was also a Golden Empire Ambulance Explorer. Sherri then moved to Texas where she earned her Paramedic license and worked with the Texas Department of Corrections and with the Houston Fire Department. After moving to Portland, OR, Sherri went back to school and earned her Registered Nursing license from Clackamas College, graduating with honors. Sherri later married and moved to Port Orchard, WA , where she worked at Mary Bridge Childrens Hospital. Upon her husbands retirement from the Navy, Sherri and her family moved back to Bakersfield, CA quickly joining the Valley Baptist Church and becoming a member of the Praise Choir. Surviving are her husband, Matthew; her three children, Jennifer, Andrew, and Kieran; her parents, Carl and Helen Louise McGary; her brother, Mark McGary; and her aunts, Aunt Marie and Aunt Pat. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park. There will be no visitation.
