James R. Mize 
June 8, 1932 - November 5, 2005 

James R. Mize, 73 years old, passed away Saturday, November 5 from 
complications during surgery in Coos Bay, OR. He was preceded in death by his 
daughter, Carlotta Porter and wife, Pauline. Survivors are Lois Rhodes, life 
partner of four years; sisters, Maxine Foster of Onyx, CA, Alice Kenagy of 
Coos Bay, OR, and Mary Borneman of Bakersfield, CA; brother, Jack Mize of Lake 
Isabella, CA; daughter, Carolyn Miller and son, James R. Mize II of 
Bakersfield; five grandsons, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, two 
great-grandsons; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born June 9, 
1932 in Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served as a Sergeant 
in the Army. He lived in Bakersfield, Pocatello, ID and the Kern River Valley 
before moving to the coast of Oregon. He is missed and well loved by all who 
knew him.
