Joe R. Montarez

Oct. 4 1945 - Feb. 17, 2006

Joe R. Montarez graduated from Tehachapi High School and joined the Army where 
he met and married Doris. Joe and Doris were married for 37 years and never 
spent a night away from each other. Joe loved music and played the guitar as 
well as any other available instrument. One of his first bands, during high 
school, was called The Counts. Joe continued performing in the Reno and Las 
Vegas areas throughout his life. His last performance was at the VFW in 
Tehachapi for the 2005 New Years celebrations. 

Joe had many friends and family. Anyone would be proud to be counted as Joe’s 
friend. We will all miss his humor, his music and his love.

Joe is survived by his wife, Doris; sisters, Maria, Ling and their husbands; 
many nephews, nieces and cousins; and many friends.
