He had his first job at age 8, selling magazines, during the depression years. When he was 17, he joined the Merchant marines, spending the last months of the war. During these last months of the war, the ship was involved taking troops to the Pacific Front, including Okinawa. After the war was over he became a master engraver, working in the newspaper business. At one time he had his own engraving business. A few years after his first wife, Arlene, passed away, he met and married Deronda. Gay loved sailing, traveling, music, golf and just enjoying his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Deronda Jo; son, Robert mower; daughters, Melissa Mower and Jennifer Power; stepsons, Michael and Brad Underwood; grandchildren, Cavin, Lauren, Truddy and Susan Mower, Stewart, Trent and Hanna Eskew, Krystal and Sarena Underwood. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed. Gay was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Arlene; a brother, John; his son, Jeffery; and a stepdaughter, Korby Eskew. He was cremated and graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 28th, 11:00 a.m., at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park.
