She was 99. A native of St. Clair, Michigan, she and her husband, Frank Muller, and their two children moved to Kern County in the 1940s. Mr. Muller was employed as office manager of what was then the DiGiorgio Winery off Comanche Road near Arvin. Mrs. Muller was employed on the clerical staff of Arvin High School and other local schools. She also was active in the Arvin Womens Club and the Assistance League. Her husband was a member of the Lions Club. They lived on Winery Lane by the winery. After their retirements the couple moved to Bakersfield where they lived on 19th Street. Mr. Muller died in 1991. Ten years later she moved to Bainbridge Island to be near members of her family. Most of her early life was spent in New York State where she graduated from Erasmus High School in Brooklyn and Elmira College in upstate New York. She married her husband in 1928, and they operated a family farm near Ithaca, N.Y. during the early years of their marriage. Their two children were born in Ithaca. Survivors include her daughter, Joan Smith of Bainbridge Island; a sister, Patricia Taylor of Pasadena; two granddaughters, Catherine Smith of Bellevue, Washington and Karen Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio; two great-granddaughters, Cynthia Hu and Abigail Hu of Bellevue. She was also predeceased by her son, Enrique Keutsch (known as Ekay) Muller of Seattle in 2004. The family suggests that any remembrances be sent to a favorite charity.
