Raymond Wicker Murphy Sr. 
Services: Thurs., Oct. 6, 11:30 a.m. 

Following a courageous battle with cancer, Raymond Wicker Murphy Sr., age 72, 
went home to Heaven on Saturday, October 1, 2005 where he was welcomed by 
Jesus, his parents, George and Muriel, and his son, Mark. He was born 
September 15, 1933, in Memphis, Tennessee, to George and Muriel Murphy. Ray 
came to California at a young age with his parents and brother, George. He met 
the love of his life Judith Randel and they were married on October 22, 1955. 
In 1972 while living in Lake Isabella, he founded the successful company 
Bakersfield Lighting Specialists. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 49 
years, Judith Murphy; his daughters, Darlene Rhoten and husband, Richard, 
Judirae Ross and husband, Fred; his son, Raymond Murphy Jr.; a special nephew, 
Garrettson Taylor; his brother, George Murphy and wife, Millie; 8 
grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; as well as brothers and sisters-in-law, 
nieces and nephews, his faithful companion, Oreo and a large extended family. 
The family extends an invitation to those who knew Ray to help celebrate his 
life at a memorial service to be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 
2005, at Heritage Bible Church, 2323 Mt. Vernon Ave., in Bakersfield. The 
family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the
