Lloyd E. Myers June 12, 1912 - Jan. 9, 2006 A memorial service including Masonic Rites will be conducted by Rev. Richard Thompson at First United Methodist Church, 4600 Stockdale Hwy on Saturday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m. Visitation is on Friday, January 20th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary. Lloyd was born in Pasadena CA June 12, 1912 and died at Walnut Creek January 9, 2006. He and his wife Marie moved to Buttonwillow from Fresno in 1941. They lived in Bakersfield from 1948 until 1994 when they moved to Rossmoor in Walnut Creek. Lloyd graduated from Fresno H. S in 1930 and served in the US Navy from 1930 until 1934. Lloyd and Marie were married in 1935 and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Lloyd worked for the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. for 40 years. He was a Mason for 60 years. He was Master of Bakersfield Lodge #224 in 1955 and was a member of Scottish Rite, Al Malaikah Temple and the Kern County Shrine Club. He received the Hiram Award, the highest award given by the California Grand Lodge for service to the lodge. For more than 50 years he was a member of Lions Clubs in Buttonwillow, Bakersfield Host and Rossmoor. While living in Bakersfield they were members of First United Methodist Church. After retirement. Lloyd and Marie loved to travel. They took many trips in their travel trailer with the Moble Nobles. They visited 49 states including Hawaii and Alaska and traveled extensively in Europe. Lloyd was also an avid golfer. Besides golf, traveling and service to his community Lloyds greatest love was his family. He is survived by his loving wife Marie. He leaves a brother Gordon Myers of San Diego, a son Bob Myers and his wife Mary Lou of Lake Havasu City AZ and a daughter Suzan Ryder of Walnut Creek. He leaves five grand children and their spouses, Steven Myers, Elizabeth Ward, Christine Matthews, David Ryder and Allison Brookes and ten great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to a Hospice organization.
