All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/obits/obitsca/obitsca.htm ********************************************************** File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: K T bluewolf@onemain.com July 3, 2005, 7:47 pm The Bakersfield Californian Marrufo, Thomas Perez "Tommy" 1935 - 2005 Thomas Perez Marrufo (Tommy) Sept. 22, 1935 - June 29, 2005 Visitation for Thomas Tommy Marrufo will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1515 Baker Street) on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday morning, July 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. The Knights of Columbus and Military graveside rights will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. A reception will take place at the St. Joseph hall. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Silvestre and Godoleva Marrufo; brothers, Ireneio, Paul, John, Arthur, Henry and sister, Margaret Hernandez. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Evalina; son, Anthony Marrufo; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Jayne Marrufo; daughter, Michelle Mills; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Raymond Knox; daughter, Monica Lopez; sister and brother-in-law, Lupe and Martin Rosales; sisters-in-law, Lucy, Natalia and Elsie Marrufo; grandchildren, Nicole Olivarez, Kacie Mills, Austin Marrufo, Drew and Dylan Knox, Luke Marrufo; close family members, Consuelo and Andrew Alderete as well as numerous other family members and friends. Tommy was born in East Los Angeles, California on September 22, 1935 and has been a resident of Kern County since 1968. Tommy attended Bakersfield High School and Garfield High School in Los Angeles. He joined the National Guard's 185th Infantry and after an honorable discharge, he joined the Army 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956. Tommy married Evalina Duran in 1957 and together they had four children. He worked as a custom carpenter for many years. A devout Catholic, Tommy was a 4th degree member of The Knights of Columbus, council #8899 for 19 years and served as a Grand Knight. Tommy was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and he will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Knights of Columbus or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
