Batista November 23, 1923 - July 1, 2005 Visitation for Margaret Mirinda Batista will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles St.) on Tuesday afternoon July 5, 2005 from 3-5 p.m., and the Rosary will be recited at Christ the King Catholic Church in Oildale on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be service will be held Christ the King Catholic Church in Oildale on Wednesday morning July 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. and interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery (River Blvd.) Margaret follows the death of her husband Dr. Albert Batista; son Albert Michael Batista, J.D.; father John Leroy McKenna; mother Florence Evelyn Klein; brothers Wilbur McKenna, John McKenna, Donald McKenna, and Elbert McKenna; sister Evelyn Haeker; and sister Mary Marlys Nyberg. She is survived by her daughter Sandra and her husband Gary Olson; grandson Ryan and his wife Amy Olson; grandson Michael Jon Batista; grandson Robert (Robb) Olson and his fiancé Molly Olson; sister Darlene and her husband Bill Evans; sister Mable Jagatich; sister Jean and her husband Don Wolf; sister Mary Orner; sister Linda Lily; sister Constance and her husband Bill McCulloch; brother Daniel and his wife Hazel McKenna; her Golden Retrievers Vera, Mica, and Bjorn; numerous cousins, and a host of friends. Born November 23, 1923 in Waterloo, Iowa, she married Dr. Albert Batista on February 21, 1944 and moved to Bakersfield, CA by way of Los Angeles in 1948. Margaret was very active in social clubs and volunteer organizations in Bakersfield over the years. She was a part of the Christ the King Alter Society, Assistance League of Bakersfield and Bargain Box, Lady Lions, Italian Heritage Dante Ladies Guild, Bakersfield Woman's Club, her Bridge Club, and "The Birthday Group". Special thanks and appreciation must go to Dr. Anthony Don Michael (Cardiologist), Dr. M. Ashraf-Alim (Pulmonologist), the Respiratory Therapists at Memorial Hospital, Dr. See-Ruern S. Kitt, Laura, and all of the nurses and doctors at the numerous hospitals that have provided care for Margaret.
