C. Chuck McNutt Services: Sat., March 12, at 11 am Graveside services will be held March 12, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the North Kern Cemetery District in Delano, CA. Chuck McNutt was born on November 12, 1923, on 48 Creek in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the fifth of ten brothers. In 1941 he came to Delano, California, and worked on the Zaninovich Ranch with his oldest brother Hugh. Chuck served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and was honorably discharged in 1946. Upon his return to Delano he married Marion Lucille Scott who predeceased him in 1993. In 1946 he joined the Delano Police Department and rose to the position of Assistant Chief. For several years he worked for Bob Grunsky Lincoln-Mercury until his election as a Kern County Constable. Finally, he served as a Kern County Sheriff deputy until his retirement in 1983. He especially enjoyed his years serving the Delano Municipal Court and the friends he made there. Chucks home was his haven of rest and his family always came first. Visits from his Tennessee relatives were sure to spell barbecue! Chuck will be remembered for his strength, exceptional memory, generosity, humor, dedication to work, and most of all for the love and care he gave to his family. His survivors include his children, Malea Jennings of Lodi, CA, and Phil McNutt of Bakersfield, CA; grandchildren, Edward Zacarias of Shafter, CA, and Steve, Sara, and Scott McNutt of Bakersfield, CA; sister-in-law, Fern McNutt of Delano, CA; niece, Kaye Cartnal of Bakersfield; brother, Joel of Earlimart; many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. Frank Chang and the staff of Bakersfield Evergreen Residential Facility for their treatment of Chuck in his last years.
