Marilyn grew up on the Meehan family farm. She graduated from Fresno State with a teaching credential. She married Robert Bob Miller and followed Bobs banking career, moving to Lake Tahoe, Porterville and finally settling in Bakersfield, where Marilyn spent her teaching career working for the Bakersfield City School District. After retirement, she traveled the world. When she was not traveling, she was attending baseball games, spring training or watching games on TV. Marilyn, also known as Mrs. Miller, the family historian, baseball trivia queen, caregiver, dog sitter and neighborhood patrol will be missed by all those who had the opportunity to share her life. A special thanks to family, friends, neighbors, caregivers and Optimal Hospice personnel, for all of your efforts to comfort Marilyn in her final days. Family and friends were very important to Marilyn and she loved sharing pictures and stories. Marilyn lost her battle to cancer and passed peacefully in the comfort of her home on July 21, 2005. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pearl Meehan and her sister Melva and Brother Horace. In lieu of flowers, you may make a contribution to the Optimal Hospice Foundation, Marilyns favorite charitable organization.
