Her parents, Lloyd and Sara Moore, lived in Wells, Nevada where her father was a Presbyterian minister. She had three brothers, two of whom have preceded her in death. Miriam received her R.N. in Nursing from Samuel Merritt Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She worked at Childrens Hospital in Honolulu after graduation. Miriam married Matthew Lynch on June 29, 1950. They made their first home on the family sheep ranch and had four children there. After leaving the ranch, the family moved quite a bit - Dezful, Iran, Reno, Nevada, Middleton, WI, Cortez, CO, Arizona and New Mexico. She enjoyed her work as a Public Health Nurse in all the places that they lived. Miriam started a program to train nursing assistants in Tucson, AZ and retired from nursing in 1984. She and Matthew retired to build their dream home on her grandfathers property in rural San Luis Obispo County. When Miriams health started to decline, they moved to Bakersfield in 1998. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Matthew Lynch; her younger brother, Ralph; four children, Lucy, Sara, Matt Jr. and Anna; five grandchildren, Alison Schwartzwalder, Tyler Young, Meleah, Amara and Michael Lynch; and several nieces and nephews. Miriams family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Trinity Board and Care Facility and Parkview Julian Convalescent Hospital for their loving care and kindness during Miriams long illness. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 11:00 a.m., at St. Pauls Parish Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Miriams memory may be made to California Neuro Science, 1600 N. Rose Ave. Suite 400, Oxnard, CA 93030. We will always remember her energy, humor and dedication to the nursing profession and her family.
