"Morty" 1922 - 2005 Aaron C. Morton Sr. (Morty) Services: Tues., July 12, 2:00 p.m. Viewing will be Monday, July 11, from 4-8 p.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., at Westside Church of Christ, 7300 Stockdale Highway. Aaron was born April 20, 1922, in Gore, Oklahoma and his soul left his body on July 7, 2005, in Bakersfield. Aaron served his country in WWII and cherished the memory of sailing on the Queen Mary in connection with his service. Morty, as he was affectionately called by his co-workers, was proud to have worked in pipeline construction in most of the great United States. He had many wonderful stories of his working days, and could recall the location and diameter of his pipeline jobs with ease. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, June Morton and beloved son, Frank Robert Morton. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Art Mackey; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mark Cabe; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron Jr. and Sherri Lynn Morton; and daughter-in-law and husband, Sandy and Lee Blocker. He is also survived by grandchildren, Timothy, Joshua and Peter Morton, Chrisie Mackey, Jenny Beebe, Brady Cabe, Nikki Gibson, Lauren Ashley Morton, and Jonathan, Daniel and Christopher Christian. Also, Aaron was blessed with great- grandchildren, Ayriel and Rebecca Morton and Lance Gibson and a host of fellow Christians. Aaron left a legacy of faith by being a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ. In more recent years he could be seen at nearly every service at Westside Church of Christ, carrying a well-worn Bible. In lieu of flowers, Grandpa would have wanted donations made on behalf of Lauren Ashley Morton as she recovers from a bone marrow transplant. Donations may be made at the Stockdale Branch of Citibank under Sherri L. Morton, Custodian for Lauren Ashley Morton, Acct #9537023435. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing. 2 Timothy 4, vs. 7-8.
