Moses was born on December 05, 1940 to Moses Neal Sr. and Nancy (Haynes) Neal in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Both parents have preceded him in death. Moses was the first born to this union and shortly there after 5 more siblings were born. Moses accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Augustus Baptist Church in Winnsboro, Louisiana. At an early age Moses was diagnosed with Polio. As a youth he learned to cope with his physical disabilities. Moses concentrated on his academia in which he excelled greatly. Moses attended Franklin Parish Training School in Winnsboro, Louisiana, until he attended college. He later received a scholarship to attend Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While attending Southern University he familiarized himself with the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in which he became a member. Upon completing college he headed to California where he met Audrey Beatrice Huff, whom he would marry later and become his life partner. From this union 3 children were born, Zandrea, Moses III, and Aaron. While migrating to California Moses began his career in the Business sector. First, he began working for the County of Los Angeles. He was later employed by public and private organizations. There were many working years spent at the Blue Cross medical organization and private child care facility organized by him and his fraternity brothers named Fred Tab Child Care Facility. Moses was later recruited for employment by Mercy Hospital of Bakersfield, California. In 1976 he uprooted his family to a new beginning in the city of Bakersfield. He was employed as the Cost Reimbursement Specialist at Mercy Hospital. Moses was proud of the fact that he was the first African American Accountant to become employed at Mercy Hospital. He eventually ceased working for Mercy Hospital and began employment at Memorial Hospital. He later elected to retire his career at Memorial Hospital. Moses was very active in the community of Kern County. He served as a board member on various organizations within Kern County. Moses was active in his church home Cain African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) until his health did not permit him. He served on the steward board under the direct leadership of Carolyn Tyler Guidry. He leaves to celebrate his homecoming his wife Audrey, daughter Zandrea (Delrick ) Corbin, Moses III (Patricia), Aaron (Yurika). His 3 brothers Foster (Carrie), Calvin (Teresa), Ponce (Carolyn), and 2 sisters Barbara Ann (Jessie) Coleman, Madelyne Coleman and known to his eight grandchildren as Poppi and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Services will be held at Cain African Methodist Episcopal, 630 California Ave. Wednesday, December 7, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 6, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd. Greenlawn Mortuary Funeral Directors Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 12/4/2005.
