Edwin R. Nelson, DDS 
July, 16, 1927 - Jan. 13, 2006 

Edwin R. Nelson was born on July 16, 1927 in Binghamton, New York and passed 
away on January 13, 2006 in Bakersfield after a long hard battle with kidney 
disease. Edwin served in the U.S. Army in Japan during WWII. In 1952 he and 
Eleanor Ruth Lawson were married in Mountain View, CA and moved to Bakersfield 
in 1959 where he had a private dental practice until 2001. He was on the Board 
of Directors at San Joaquin Hospital, past president of the Kern County Dental 
Society and was still on the Board of Directors for the Pacific Health 
Education Center. Edwin was a loving father and grandfather. He loved his 
fruit trees and gardening which he did up until the end. He is preceded in 
death by his wife of 49 years, Eleanor Nelson in 2001. Survivors are his son 
Steven Nelson and wife Jodi of Eagle Point, Oregon; daughter Laurie Priest and 
husband Colin of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Steven, Jr., Matt, Melissa, 
Derick and Erin of Eagle Point, Oregon, Andrew, Ashlee, Magan and Trevor of 
Bakersfield. Chapel services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 
2006 at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday 4 to 8 pm at 
Hillcrest Mortuary. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be 
made to the Pacific Health Education Center, 5300 California Avenue, 
Bakersfield.
