Mom was born in East Los Angeles to Emerenciano and Petra Nieto. In 1941 the family moved from San Fernando to Bakersfield where mom grew up with her brothers and sisters. She attended Our Lady of Guadalupe School, St. Francis School, Garces High School and Bakersfield College. In 1952 she married Carlos R. Banales. During their 53 years together they raised 14 children. She was a member of the Legion of Mary. Over the years mom was involved with many groups and organizations. She had unconditional love for everyone she knew and was the example of a great wife and loving mother. Mom was sweet, kind, caring and humble. Her faith in God was unshakable. Her son, Carlitos Banales; parents, Emerenciano and Petra Nieto; brother, Rosalio Nieto; sister, Margie Nieto Hernandez; brother-in-law, Robert Esqueda; 3 nephews and 2 nieces preceded her in death. She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Carlos R. Banales; her thirteen children and spouses, Rosalio and Linda Banales, Rebecca and Lee Slight, Miguel and Linda Banales, Alex Banales, Raquel and Cecil Valenzuela, Carlos and Marlena Banales, John and Kary Banales, Paul Banales, Mary and Gabriel Fimbres, Lupe and Richie Felix, Elizabeth Banales, Louie and Melissa Banales, Annie and Mike Rivera; grandchildren, Moria, Brentina, Nick and Sheridan, Linda, Christopher, Monique, Raquel, Leilanie, Cecil Jr., Richard, Cheryl, Sara, Carlos III and Angel, Andrew, Erica, Devani, Jay, Katherine, Reuben, William, Nichole, Kristine, Alejandra, RJ, Jonah, Talulah, Isaiah and Quentin; great- grandchildren, Jacqueline, Juliana, Steven, Breanna, Caden, Matthew, Davian, Calysta, Kirsten and Kayleigh; her brothers, sisters and in-laws, Lupe Aceves, Nano and Rowena, Joe and Juanita, Steve and Mary, Gilbert and Anita, Conchita Nieto, Teresa and Henry Sanchez, Angela Esqueda, Julie Gifford, Josefina Flores, Enedina Orozco, Naomi Banales; 47 nephews and nieces. Thank you to Dr. Jennifer Abraham and staff for the years of care and the staff of ER, CC2 and 1st East of Bakersfield Memorial Hospital for all your help and understanding with the care of our mother. Recitation of the Rosary will be Thursday, December 15, 2005, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe and Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rosalio, Miguel, Carlos Jr., John, Paul and Louie Banales. Honorary Pallbearer will be Alex Banales.
