For most of Julians life he was a truck driver. He worked for 15 years at Kophamer Farms as a field supervisor mechanic and harvested the onions every summer season. He owned two trucks and had them haul produce. In 2002 at the age of 68 Julian retired from Baker Petrolite, where he worked as a Well Treatment Driver for 16 years. Julians love for baseball began when he played for the Mexican American League in Bakersfield, and continued when he started coaching in 1989 for his son Arthur at JBA for 15 years and was still coaching for his granddaughter Marissas softball team just this summer at the Fairfax Jr. Baseball League. Julian was a caring, loving, cheerful person making friends easily, wherever he went. One of his favorite pastimes was barbequing, because he loved to spend time with his family. He loved social functions and loved to go dancing with his wife Avelina. He enjoyed watching football with his sons, grandsons, and brother-in-law, and he was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Since his retirement Julian had discovered that he loved to cook special recipes for his loving wife Avelina. Julian is survived by his wife of 36 years, Avelina; his children Elizabeth Gomez (Rey Jr.), David Nunez (Frenchie), Arthur Nunez (Stephanie), Melissa Tovar (Jason); his children from a previous marriage, Virginia Villalobos (Chon), Elena Gurrola (Cesar), Sylvia Hernandez, and Irma Nunez; his sisters, Cheva Rizo (Sammy), Minnie Miller (Roland), Natalia Vargas (Juan), Theresa Nunez; his uncle Joaquin Rios; his 26 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Julian loving husband, who adored his wife; loving, caring father, father-in-law and brother, who was taken home by our Lord. Always in our hearts, until we are together again.
