Oleson (Bob) 1926 - 2005 A memorial service will be held Friday, January 6, 2006, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. Bob was born March 26, 1926, in Chadron, Nebraska and later moved to Wyoming at the age of 15, there he spent many of his young years helping his grandfather raise horses for the Army, he treasured those times. He then joined the Navy, he was one of the first members of the Sea Bees and was awarded five medals of which he was very proud. Bob was a jack of many trades and was good at them all but if you were to ask him what his profession was he would proudly state, Im a Cowboy and Im sure all that knew him would agree. Bob always said that April 9th was his lucky day for that was the day he was honorably discharged from the Navy and two years later April 9th he met and married his soul mate, Juanita. Our grandpa was the best storyteller ever. One of our favorites was when he met our grandma, he loved telling this one. It goes a little something like this. He was at a dance and he saw her from across the room, at that very moment he knew she was the one he was going to marry. On the first date he let this be known and on the second date he proposed. They were married for 55 wonderful years, he always said she was the best thing that every happened in his life. We would all say that he was the best thing that happened in ours! Bob passed away December 24, 2005, at UCLA Hospital of complications from a surgery. His wife and children were by his side. Bob is survived by his wife, Juanita, aka Bonnie; his four children, daughters, Candis, Bobbie, Melody Ann and son, Michael Oleson; 6 grandchildren, Shannon Hough, Beau Lee, Heather Lancaster, Rick Devin, Michael Oleson and Sunshine Garside; 8 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Ross, Ethan, Garet Hough, Tyler and Taylor Adkins, CeCe and LoLa Lee. Bob also leaves behind many wonderful friends who he enjoyed spending time with including his Good Buddy Bill Gammon and members of the VFW Post #97. Along with many others too numerous to name. He was a man that lived life to the fullest. He loved life, he loved his family and he loved his friends. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.
