Oliverius died Thursday, Jan. 26, at the age of 84. She was born along with her twin sister, Verna, in Oakland. She was raised and attended school in Watsonville. Virginia married her high school sweetheart, George Oliverius, on Feb. 22, 1942. Virginia was a 50-year member of the Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active participant of the United Methodist Women. She had been very active in many community support and help groups during her 24-year residence in the Tehachapi Valley. Virginia is survived by her younger sister, Thelma Groenweg of Saint Helena; son, G. Ross Oliverius of Lancaster; daughter, Mayme Schwartz of Elk Grove; family Dr. and Mrs. Charles Oliverius of Anahieim; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Verna Johnson and her husband, George Oliverius. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society or your favorite charity are requested. A memorial service will be hosted by the Tehachapi Valley United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. A lunch will follow.
