Gary was raised in Bakersfield and passed away here on July 8, 2005, with his family by his side. Gary was one of three brothers which included Jerry and Lance, all of which were born with January birth dates. After graduating from North High School, he served his country as a U.S. Army Mortarman in the 11th Armored Calvary Black Horse Regiment in Vietnam and Cambodia. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he joined the Carpenters Union Local #743. Gary worked 33 years on lots of jobs, big and small, including power plants, prisons, Air Force and Navy bases, oil refineries and water projects. His most recent job was doing finish work at the new Build-A-Bear store in Bakersfield. He had many experiences to share. Garys favorite leisure time activities included riding his motorcycle, fishing, spending time with his friends and driving to State Line, Nevada to do a little gambling. He loved old movies and Raiders football. Garys desire to help people and his quick wit will be missed by many. A remembrance gathering for family and friends will be planned at a future date.
