Robert Elmer Opely 
Feb. 15, 1927 - Aug. 5, 2005 

Chapel services will be held Thursday, August 11, at 10:00 a.m., at Greenlawn 
Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd., for Robert Elmer Opely, 78, who passed away 
August 5, 2005. Bob was born in Los Angeles, served as a Merchant Marine in 
1945-1946. Soon after he came to Delano, CA, where he remained the rest of his 
life. He worked for the Kern County Fire Department 15 years. He achieved the 
rank of Chief before taking an early retirement to start his own business. Bob 
was a successful businessman. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge in 
Delano with over 50 years membership. Bob was a proud member of the Scottish 
Rite of Freemasonry earning a status of 32nd Degree. He served a Past master 
of Free & Accepted Mason in Delano-Wasco Lodge 309. He was involved with the 
Shriners and Al Malakiah. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Feraldine Walker 
Opely; his children, Carol Alleshouse, Rodney Opely, Donna and Simon Brewer; 
grandchildren, William, Stephen, Courtney, Cameron, Rocky, Sandi, Randy and 
Tara Kimberly; great-grandchidlren and great-great-grandchildren. Bob was a 
giving person. Bob, we all love you and miss you very much. You meant a lot to 
each and every one of us. Thank you for being a wonderful person. We all love 
you.
