He is survived by his wife, Soila Pacheco; one daughter; one son and their spouses; 4 grandchildren; 7 sisters; 2 brothers and their respective families as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Augie was born in Wasco, California to Juan and Esther Pacheco. He was raised in McFarland and he later moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1958 where he worked for General Motors (UA W Local 645) for 26 years before retiring. After retirement, Augie and his family returned to his wife's hometown of Bakersfield where he has lived for the last 19 years. Augie loved good food, good music and a good debate. Always eager to strike up a conversation, he was the type of person you would meet on the street and are friends with by the end of the day. Known for his cooking skills, he catered many events for family and friends. Later in his life, his hobby was collecting clown figurines, watching western movies and as an early riser could be found most often in the kitchen drinking coffee and listening to music. Augie was a sharp-dressed man who liked things neat and spic and span. Special thanks to good friend, Manuel Meza and his family who befriended Augie during the last years of his life. The family would like to thank Dr. Htoo and the ICU staff at Mercy Hospital for their care and compassion. He was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Pallbearers will be Dago Hernandez, Marin Ortega Jr., Anthony Ortega, Gilbert Pacheco, Gilbert Pacheco Jr. and Thomas Rey.
