We know she is free of pain and in the comforting arms of our Lord. She was born December 18, 1933, in Walnut Grove, Missouri, to Willard K. and Marie Mallory Perry. The family moved to Taft, CA, in 1935. She began school there and after a short residence in Santa Cruz returned to Taft where she graduated from Taft High School in 1952. Although she lived in several places in California, most of her life was spent in Bakersfield. In 1967 Jo married Larry Barney and the two raised a blended family of Jo's and Larry's children. She worked for Tosco Oil and a local attorney. Jo and Larry enjoyed many trips in their RV and she loved playing scrabble, doing crossword puzzles and sewing with her friend, Cheryl. Many family functions were held at the Barney home. Jo also loved her collections of antique glassware and other pretties. Jo is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Larry Barney; her sons, Tom Higgins and wife, Judy and Jerry Goble; stepdaughter, Ginger Carey and husband, Andrew; stepson, John Barney and wife, Millie; grandchildren, Brian and Kimberly Higgins, Shannon Barney, Matthew and Danielle Barney and Katie Lee Carey; sister, Mary Carter and husband, Jack; brother, Keith J.
